From September 21-29, 2024 the The Physics Show of the university Bonn has been on its first international tour since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The group of 20 students and university employees lead by Prof.

From September 31 to October 29, 2024 the first NuMeriQS Retreat took place at the Bethe Center for Theoretical Physics. With Martin Savage (Seattle) and Moritz Helias (Aachen and FZJ), we had two inspiring external speakers.

On April 27, 2024, we officially kicked of the efforts in NuMeriQS with two very interesting talks by Prof. Anthony Kennedy (University of Edinburgh) and Prof. Peter Coveney (London). Prof. Kennedy, as one of the inventors of the Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) algorithm, gave an interesting historical review of the HMC and its modern applications.

The NuMeriQS kickoff meeting will take place in the afternoon of April 17. We are very happy that we could convince two distinguished speakers to introduce two NuMeriQS topics. The corresponding presentations will be accessible to a broader audience.

The CRC initiative 1639 NuMeriQS Numerical Methods for dynamics and structure formation in Quantum Systems will be funded by the DFG starting from April 1st, 2024, for three and 3/4 years.
